Inspiration can be found all around us. It can be seen in the mother who gets home from work late and still finds time to do everybody’s laundry. The father who picks up extra shifts to make sure there is always food not only for his family, but also for the single-parent’s family down the road as well. Or the elderly lady in the neighborhood who buys more fundraiser cookies than anyone, even though she can’t eat them.
These inspirational stories are real, and things like this happen every day in every part of the world. When looking for inspiration, we often search out those who make a lot of money or someone who has been very successful. While this can be a good guideline, plenty of inspiration can be found by observing the lives of “normal” people, as the above stories show. Those who exemplify kindness, charity, hard work, perseverance or humility can often be fountains of inspiration (even though they don’t know it and will probably deny it if you tell them!).
These stories may not seem as significant or inspirational as a “rags to riches” story, especially in a world so focused on financial success. However, even among those stories of success, the best place to look for inspiration is in those whose lives impact others.
So next time you’re searching for inspiration, before you start scouring the internet for some odd-defying, nearly impossible story, look at those around you and draw inspiration from their everyday deeds. And who knows? Maybe somebody else is being inspired by you.
